The lovely Indonesian family behind Waroeng brings the vibrant colours and tastes of Indonesian food right to your doorstep with their catering service and grocery store in the heart of Antwerp. They carefully selected their favourite dishes from all around Indonesia to help you discover the richness of their native cuisine from the comfort of your home. Their catering provides your events and receptions with mouth-watering dishes using fresh and carefully selected produce, whether it’s private or professional, at your home or at the office. And their small, intimate restaurant setting welcomes for a lovely dinner outhouse.

Designing for Waroeng was like traveling with my taste buds and being constantly inspired by the spirited scents of their Indonesian spices and cuisine.

I designed the identity of Waroeng with respect for the existing typographical logo, which I was asked to retain. I illustrated the logo with a young Indonesian girl with a warm and inviting smile; the first impression that greeted me walking into Waroeng’s grocery shop.  I chose for a traditional set of colours and patterns, commonly found in the Southern Asian batik and textile, but with a modern clean twist that fits the needs of both their catering and grocery business. I then redesigned the menu for take-away & catering and proceeded with various packaging, aluminium trays and Kraft bags for food and prepared meals. Along with a small brochure and sleeve design for their pick-up and take-away lunch boxes, also came a loyalty card and an online ordering page.  I’ve also freshened up Waroeng’s ambivalent kitchen/restaurant/grocery space and shop in Antwerp.
